Morganite is a member of the beryl family, like emerald and aquamarine. Its soft pink-to-peach color is created by manganese within the crystal structure, giving the stone its naturally gentle and transparent appearance. It was named in the early 20th century in honor of J. P. Morgan, a collector and supporter of mineralogical sciences in the United States.

In modern crystal studies (The Crystal Bible, Judy Hall), morganite is associated with qualities connected to the “deep heart” — not just love in a general sense, but the ability to understand oneself, to accept old emotions we tend to avoid, and to open the heart consciously when facing emotionally challenging experiences.
